Preventing Elder Abuse
WELCOME TO PREVENTING ABUSE OF OLDER PEOPLE LIVING IN THE COMMUNITY
This site aims to assist service providers in community aged care services and others working with or supporting older people living at home in the community who are at risk of, or experiencing abuse.
In situations where older people's rights are at risk of abuse by someone they should be able to trust, including by family members, it may be useful for them to confide in a service provider. Service providers working in community aged care services, will find the information relevant and useful in planning strategies with older people.
The content is aimed at sharing knowledge, information about resources and guidance regarding how to support older people living at home in the community who are experiencing abuse from someone they should be able to trust. South Australia is well placed to respond as service providers exhibit substantial goodwill and commitment to supporting the health and well-being of their consumers.
ARAS, through its Abuse Prevention Program, states that: 'There’s no excuse for abuse'.
