Partnerships

The Residential Aged Care Advocacy Services Program focuses on the establishment of partnerships and involvement of older people in continuous improvement. The advocacy agencies aim to enhance collaborative relationships whilst maintaining their independent role in representation of older people.

The formation of links within the quality assurance framework, in particular with the Complaints Resolution Scheme and also the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency are important for continuous improvement of the aged care area. Advocacy agencies are able to contribute to the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency's risk management strategy, by identifying systemic issues in relation to the achievement and delivery of care standards within individual facilities.

The advocacy agencies are well linked at the local level and are developing closer links with state and national consumer organisations such as Council on the Ageing, Alzheimer's and Carers' Associations. Improved linkages with peak industry organisations are beneficial in assisting advocacy services to work more effectively at the systemic level.

Goals

To develop and enhance appropriate working relationships with key stakeholders including:

To work with stakeholders to ensure a co-ordinated approach to quality assurance issues and enhance the overall effectiveness of the Residential Aged Care Advocacy Services Program.
