Policy

The Government's quality assurance and accreditation framework demands best outcomes for older people and continuous improvement in those outcomes.

Within this environment, and through their work in the areas of advocacy, education and information delivery, advocacy agencies are able to contribute as key players in the broader quality assurance framework by identifying systemic issues at both the intra and inter-state levels.

The role of advocacy agencies in relation to policy is quite specific and includes the identification of systemic issues and policy gaps within the aged care sector and the provision of this information to government for appropriate policy development.

Goal

To ensure that advocacy agencies are working as effectively as possible in their role as an industry improvement mechanism, fostering and encouraging continuous improvement through policy identification and reporting.
