What ARAS can assist with
ARAS can provide information and advocacy support about a range of Support at Home and CHSP matters, including:
- understanding aged care services and available options;
- establishing or understanding service agreements and care plans;
- reviewing or updating care arrangements;
- communicating with aged care providers, staff or management;
- participating in decisions about care and services;
- concerns about the quality, safety or delivery of aged care services;
- changes to services or care arrangements;
- fees, charges and contributions relating to aged care;
- raising concerns, providing feedback or making complaints;
- accessing or changing aged care services;
- navigating the aged care system, including My Aged Care;
- addressing issues affecting the older person's ability to live independently at home; and
- navigating transitions between hospital, home and residential aged care where there are concerns, delays or barriers affecting access to appropriate aged care services and supports.
Financial Advocacy Support
ARAS also provides a specialist Financial Advocacy service to support older people with financial matters relating to their aged care.
Financial Advocates can support older people to:
- understand Support at Home and other aged care fees, charges, contributions and costs;
- understand aged care statements, invoices and bills;
- identify unexpected charges, discrepancies or possible billing errors;
- understand relevant government funding and financial information;
- liaise with My Aged Care, Services Australia and aged care providers about aged care fees and charges;
- understand financial hardship options and receive support to complete financial hardship applications; and
- raise and work towards resolving concerns or disputes about aged care fees and charges.
